About

Jabbar Farshbaf is an Iranian author, poet, researcher, and painter whose work brings Persian literature into vivid conversation with contemporary visual art. As a professor of Persian literature and poetry, he is passionate about preserving and revitalizing classical texts.

His multidisciplinary Shahnameh Projects fuse storytelling, research, and painting to reintroduce Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh in accessible, modern forms. The first phase, the book Minimal Shahnameh, features simplified retellings of epic tales paired with 67 original acrylic paintings that merge literary narrative and vibrant visual symbolism.

Farshbaf’s research uncovers hidden linguistic and cultural clues within the Shahnameh, revealing lost stories and forgotten heritage

His ongoing projects continue to explore Persian legends, bridging past and present through poetry and visual art.
