Born in Pampa, Texas, Andis Applewhite lives and works in Houston, Texas. Her work explores abstract symbolism and the dualities in life. Applewhite's works are found in the collections of the Library of Congress, Capital One Financial Services, Texas Tech University, St. John's College, Annapolis Maryland, and other collections.

Applewhite publishes various art related books and currently commutes between her home/studio in Houston to her farm north of Lubbock, Texas where she tends to her vineyard and lavender.
