About the Book
ART should be celebrated, not censored.
We all have a body to be proud of, and so should the art we create be enjoyed for what it is. The moment we feel embarrassed, that's the moment when art is lost forever.
Anyone who leafs through a fashion magazine on a regular basis is constantly confronted with nudity. Exposed female breasts are a good thing in fashion photography as well as provocative poses. Artistic nude photography is as old as photography itself. In the future, if I want to share a fashion story or photographic work with a valued colleague or myself, I must confine myself to "harmless" photography. This sometimes does not make sense. There are works that contain only nude photos. Such a contribution can not be published without distorting it. It would not show the work as it is. At any rate, it has nothing to do with pornography. Only with aesthetics and beauty.
The pseudo moral of social networks is the real problem. They decide what is okay and what is not. Most of them also reflect American pseudo-morality, which is characterized more by fear than by tolerance.
If Tumblr was a French company, these community guidelines probably would not exist. I understand the intention of using guidelines against criminally relevant child pornography and other questionable content. That is absolutely necessary, but in their universal character they also destroy the freedom of artistic expression on the platform. The algorithms that seek to filter out questionable content can not distinguish between art and pornography, male and female breasts, they can not weigh what is really worrying and what is not, they have no sensitivity. In case of doubt this leads to absurd results.
The commitment of social networks is to focus their censorship on those things that are truly dangerous - unfortunately, there is more than enough of this content and yet, too little is being done against it ...
