About the Book
Professionals and amateur musicians of all ages, locations and instruments were invited to audition for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra by submitting two video performances on YouTube.
World renowned composer and conductor Tad Dun composed the piece “Internet Symphony Eroica” specifically for the project. This music was then recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra as the sample to be played by applicants in their auditions.
Finalists were selected firstly by a professional judging panel comprising of members from the world’s top orchestras and secondly via the YouTube voting community.
The orchestra came for the first time in New York on April 12 for a group summit and an unforgettable concert conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas at the famous Carnegie Hall.
