About the Book
Photographs of the annual 4th of July parade on Marston Avenue, Portsmouth, NH. Led by Lady Liberty—sometimes riding, sometimes on foot; sometimes with a band, sometimes not—neighborhood residents (including pets) decked out in the "required" red, white and blue march the length of Marston Ave, about 200 yards, then gather for a reading of the Declaration of Independence, reacting with appropriate cheers and jeers. This colorful event has been marching since 1988, and now is chronicled through more than 90 photographs in this 64-page book covering the years 2007-2017. (2014 was not covered.)
A follow-up book covering the years 2018-2020 was published in 2020.
