About the Book
When Tom Climent started out on this new phase of work initially it was the notion of a house that interested him, the house as nucleus, the origin of architecture and of constructed space, the original shell that Bachelard speaks of.
This idea of a shell was one he wanted to investigate more; simple structural shapes and objects that could function as dwellings. These started to become symbolic for him in that he saw these structures as a kind of hut, a spatial place; physically located as the studio and mentally as the center from which his work comes.
This book catalogues a series of paintings and sculptures made by the artist between 2009 -2011.

About the Creator
Tom Climent
Cork/Ireland
I am a painter working from a studio in Cork City, Ireland. My work over the last twenty years or so has varied from paintings of figurative, urban and landscape subjects. My most recent work tends to focus on the creation of a structured space, while investigating the boundaries between abstraction and representation. These paintings are focused around spatial constructs and how they might provide a structured space for our environment. They reference our associations to land and our search and desire to find a place within it.
