About the Creator
Ferdinand Kiemeneij (1952) is interventional cardiologist. In 1992 he performed the first coronary angioplasties via the radial artery. Today there is convincing evidence that this technique reduces major bleeding complications. In 2015, this procedure became standard of care in Europe. Fascinated by his frequent travels to China and Japan, Kiemeneij studied Sinology at the Leiden University in the Netherlands in order to understand more of Chinese and Japanese culture and language. Today he is active interventional cardiologist and involved in training and proctoring transradial coronary interventions. After more than 30 years of experience in coronary angioplasty, he began to underscore the beauty of Western Zen tradition in daily life, especially in his professional live. In this book, he combines his hobby, black-white photography with his knowledge on transradial coronary interventions and with his view on implementing Zen in interventional cardiology.
