About the Book
Kimberlynne Darby Newton is a retired teacher of World History. She is also a testament to the power of poetry. It saved her life. Two strokes and poetry, not to mention the support of her beloved Poetstuffers poetry group, were the pistons which kept her writing and not dying. She is the author of over 13 books now, one written about the experience of the strokes. Kim is alive and flourishing because of it.
These poems about women and the issues that inform their lives stumped her, though. "I kept wanting to write about the myriad abuses suffered by my sisters, but only positivity flowed out", she says. You have it here, along with some wonderful additions by the many friends poetry has gifted her with.
Please enjoy Girlchild. It is OUR book!
