About the Book
Born and living in Belgium, Philippe Carly was taught photography by his father. Caught in the punk explosion turmoil he quickly realized his musical skills were lacking even by the meager “one chord wonder” standards and that the only way for him to take an active part in this amazing wave was through photography. He took the punk motto “Get up and do it” litterally and started snapping, learning as he went on.
For over ten years he spent most of his free times photographing (then) obscure bands in pubs back rooms, school gyms, small clubs and recycled industrial halls.
His work was published in “rock magazines” such as More (B), Pulsion (B), Ecoute (B), En Attendant (B), Télé Moustique (B), Vinyl (NL), Trespassers W (NL), Sounds (UK) and used in several records and books artworks.

About the Creator
Philippe Carly

Did many concert photography ( http://www.newwavephotos.com ) back in the late 70s and early 80s: witnessed early Cure and U2 gigs for instance. I'm probably best known for my iconic photos of the late Ian Curtis, singer of Joy Division. I started model photography in 2005 and now concentrate on glamour / nude / beauty / portrait photography.
