About the Book
Bamberg is one of Europe's most beautiful and historic small cities, its stunning architectural legacy the result of centuries as an episcopal principality. Like Rome, it has seven hills, with a cathedral containing the only papal tomb north of the Alps and a masterpiece by Riemenschneider in the tomb of the imperial couple Henry II and Cunigunde. Bamberg is also famous for the products of its ancient brewing tradition, especially the smoked beer that is the city’s speciality.

I am originally from the English Black Country near Wolverhampton, but have lived and worked for many years in Bristol, where I taught German and French in a large independent school. I also helped run public exams and was a “in-house” photographer before retiring in 2018. Apart from photography, I like travel, and have a season ticket at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
