In June 2013, I volunteered to photograph the activities at the University of Wisconsin Summer Music Clinics. Although I thought taking pictures put me in a position as a neutral observer, I soon realized that I felt again like I did many years before when my own sons participated in similar events – I was silently cheering for the success of these young musicians. I was also amazed by the incredible dedication of the UW School of Music staff and students who worked so hard to make this a success. Had I worn a hat, I would have been tipping it all week to the exceptional faculty from Madison and all around the country who shared their knowledge and spirit with the next generation of musicians, singers and performers.
