About the Book
California is a beautiful state. Grand landscape photography was practically invented here by photographers eager to bring a little bit of the grandeur they saw in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the beaches and cliffs, and the deserts home with them.
This book is the product of my search for grace and beauty in less obvious places in Northern California. It is a compilation of photographs taken within day trip distance Sacramento and presented in three parts. With the exception of Bodie, none of images are of well-worn grand California photographic subjects. It is my hope that these images demonstrate to the viewer that beauty and meaning can be found in overlooked and everyday places.
