About the Book
Filoli, an historic country estate on the San Francisco Peninsula, is surrounded by a 654 acre nature preserve. This video shares my journey of study and discovery in the secret untamed places beyond the fences and locked gates of the House and formal Garden, into the natural areas which have come to be known as Filoli's "Wild Garden". Volunteers and staff share their knowledge of the flora and fauna to be found "beyond the back gate" at Filoli, as well as the area's historical ecology. "Filoli trout" are discovered as is the historical name of Filoli's main creek, Laguna Creek. Man's innate love of nature, known as biophilia, is explored.
