About the Book
Glimpses in Time: International Juried Photography Exhibition is presented annually to promote the art of photography and honor the contributions of major photographers throughout history.
This year’s exhibition pays tribute to the life and art of James Van Der Zee, an American photographer, who captured the most comprehensive documentation of the Harlem Renaissance.
His experimentation with double exposures and retouching negatives allowed him to articulate a vision of a period in time that had a major global impact on art and culture.
Over 350 images from 9 countries and 29 US states were submitted for the exhibition and 80 were selected.
The exhibition was Juried Stephen Wirtz, owner of the prestigious Stephen Wirtz Gallery (San Francisco, California), was the sole juror for this exhibition. The Steven Wirtz Gallery opened in 1972 and is considered one of the preeminent galleries with a strong focus on photography.
