About the Book
Henry Edward Facer, Band Sergeant of the 1st Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, wrote this true account of his experiences of the Boer War, in an exercise book, used as his daily diary. It gives an intriguing insight into the life of a soldier on the Front Line, 130 years ago. (As of 2022.)
After the war ended he famously became Bandmaster of the 1st Battalion, Essex Regiment.
Written directly from the original exercise book, this work contains facsimile pages from the book as well as photos and background details of H.E Facer himself.
