About the Book
A collection of our favorite wildlife and landscape photographs of Avery Island, Louisiana.
Avery Island, where our family has lived and worked since 1818, is a salt dome rising above the Louisiana marsh. Its rolling hills, ponds, egret rookeries, live oak forests, and swamps are home to such varied species of plants, flowers, and wildlife that it is truly a photographer's paradise. Avery Island is also the home of TABASCO brand Pepper Sauce, which Edmund's great grandfather invented in 1868. Because the island remains family owned, we have had the opportunity to photograph wildlife and some of the most beautiful parts of the Island over the years. We developed this book as a gift to our friends who visit us at Avery Island, and hope others might enjoy it as well.
Best regards,
Pam and Edmund McIlhenny
