About the Book
VIADUCTO PINTORES is a collective show of contemporary Uruguayan artists brought together by the search for colors, textures, ideas and image. There is no unified aesthetic trend among this heterogeneous group where research and the quest for languages and aesthetic solutions are the main creative engine.
Themes wander freely from joy to sadness, conveyed by worldly scenes and fantastic characters, heedless to any specific movement. There are no ties or restrictions, this endless journey leads to different ways of painting, depending on what period of the artist we encounter.
Although each artist develops his or her work individually, they have also worked together in collective projects.
Uruguayan painting has strong aesthetic roots such as Torres García’s Constructive Universalism and the work of other world renowned figures as Pedro Figari, Rafael Barradas, Federico Sáez and Petrona Viera, among others.
Today, this collective show is a window onto Uruguay’s new artistic map and it shapes a fresh stroke that, although aware of its past, renounces any apprehensions in its query for a new aesthetic approach focused on the 21st Century.

VIADUCTO PINTORES es un colectivo de artistas contemporáneos uruguayos unidos por la búsqueda de colores, texturas, ideas e imágenes. En este grupo heterogéneo no hay una única estética determinada,y la investigación así como la búsqueda de lenguajes y soluciones estéticas son el principal motor creativo.
La temática se mueve libremente de la alegría a la tristeza, en escenas mundanas y personajes fantásticos, sin estar encasillada en una corriente determinada. No hay ataduras ni restricciones, sino una búsqueda constante que lleva a una pintura diferente según el período en que el artista la desarrolle.
Si bien cada artista desarrolla su obra individualmente, también han trabajado juntos en proyectos colectivos.
La pintura uruguaya cuenta con una tradición estética fuerte como es el Universalismo Constructivo de Torres García y grandes exponentes a nivel mundial como ser Pedro Figari, Rafael Barradas, Federico Sáez y Petrona Viera, entre otros.
Hoy, este colectivo es una ventana hacia el nuevo mapa artístico del Uruguay, generando un trazo que conoce su historia pero que renuncia a lo aprehendido en búsqueda de una nueva estética enfocada al siglo XXI.
