About the Book
We live in a society where violence against women occurs at an epidemic rate. It is a society where crimes of sexual assault evoke public outrage, but do not inspire public action. Despite alarming statistics, the sheer prevalence of gendered violence has desensitized us and dulled our ability to be appropriately shocked and offended. The problem is so pervasive that we have been lulled into acceptance. It is time for our society to wake up and shake off the comfortable haze of apathy, to dig deep within ourselves to uncover the seeds of indifference and to ask ourselves what we are willing to do about it. If we have any hope of lifting this plague of violence, we must seek answers to the tough questions and we must be willing to see what is hiding in plain sight.
