About the Book
This retrospective book of images by California photographer Ken Botto (1937-2008) includes eighty images selected from his 35 series.
Botto lived and worked in Bolinas, California. Using his own backyard as a workspace, he photographed outdoors, constructing table-top “studios” on which he created and manipulated his set-ups. These miniature tableaux were assembled from his remarkable toy collection, unique props, and found objects.
He received his BFA from California College of Arts and Crafts and his MFA from Claremont Graduate School. Botto color photography has been widely exhibited and is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
