About the Book
An account of a single handed voyage around Britain in a small boat. The voyage was undertaken in my Cornish Shrimper; "Grace III", a gaff-rigged sailing boat just 19 feet (5.4 metres) long, in a series of cruises spread over five years from 2004 to 2008.
Each year I would sail a part of the coastline during the early part of the summer, then have Grace craned onto her trailer and take her home for the winter. The next season we would resume where we had left off the previous year.
During the voyage we spent more than 60 days at sea, sheltering each night in a new haven. The book includes a short account of each leg, including those with extreme wind and weather, illustrated with over 100 photos.

Born in 1938, I started my working career as a meteorologist, becoming a systems analyst for super computers before becoming involved with the design, management and operation of the satellites used for tracking weather and monitoring climate change. In this capacity I established the European agency responsible for these matters, building it into a world-class organisation before my retirement. Serious sailing started on my retirement, with my round Britain cruise completed just after my 70th birthday. Still happily married after nearly 50 years, Angela and I delight in our two grown up children and four grandchildren, while indulging numerous hobbies.
