About the Book
Our Fragile World, the UK, is a photobook highlighting the climate emergency. The theme of the book is the way that as we travel through the British landscape, the damage being wreaked by climate change is not necessarily present in our vision, unless we have knowledge that we can use to decode what we see. The book draws on the author’s archive of photographs, taken in the British landscape, rural and urban. The images in the book were made by deliberately damaging photographs during the photo transfer process – from photo transfer paper onto thin voile-type of white fabric – and then scanning the image on the fabric, to make a digital file. In this way, the work in the book attempts to speaks visibly about damage to the planet caused by climate change, as a reminder of the emergency.
