About the Book
Lawrence Johnson (January, 23 1801–April, 24 1860), was an eminent stereotyper and type-founder in Philadelphia and one of the most extensive and successful type-founders in the United States. Following his sudden death of from a stroke his widow, Mary Winder Johnson, compiled a variety of personal notes, official declarations, newspaper clippings and articles from around the country and pasted them in a scrapbook. This book provides a transcription of all this notes in addition to a brief biography.
