About the Book
So my wife R and I were preparing to remodel the attic (now referred to as the loft) when we became acutely aware of how much stuff we had stored up there. We began to triage – stuff to throw out immediately (having a dumpster on your driveway is recommended), stuff to keep and stuff to look through. In this third category we found rubber-banded piles of notes (about 2000 or so - none dated) that R and I wrote to one another almost every day during our first few years together. We also found notes on paper towels and scrap paper, greeting cards, photos and a few printed e-mails (most was pre-computer). This book is the product of our re-reading, selecting, editing and remembering. It's about how the Blumenthals (R and Bill), meet, marry, buy a house, have a kid (Laura) and go through the usual joys and pains of adjusting. It’s therefore about love, fun, frustration, complaints, revelations, announcements, birthdays, anniversaries, excitement, boredom, trauma and just being. It's our tweets before Twitter, our updates before Facebook.
