I've been an artist most of my life, (though life very often would get in the way). After making films for several years during my 20's, I moved on to drawing and painting. Several years ago, I started making gel prints. It’s a wonderful medium for quick, gestural painting. In this book, I’ve featured work from a series of prints that explore the form, energy and life force of animals. The mono print creates interesting problems in terms of time constraints created by the size of the gel plate and paint that dries quickly. It challenges one to keep the composition simple, but still be able to express some inherent quality of the animal that makes the work interesting. This book is a record of some of those attempts. Several large mixed media pieces are also included.
