About the Creator
Kira Lawler is an artist and photographer based in the Midwest. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 2022 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Photography, as well as minors in Journalism and Art History. Lawler’s work has been shown in downtown St. Louis and the George Caleb Bingham Gallery in Columbia, Missouri. Her upbringing in the midwestern United States is instrumental in Lawler’s work. Kira draws inspiration from the natural, personal relationships and stories, and her own struggles, as well as from photographers such as Gregory Crewdson, Alec Soth, Ansel Adams, and Andrea Tese. Her work brings in themes of rurality, religion, emptiness, grief, family dynamics, identity, and whiteness. Her first photo book of this series was released in 2021.
