About the Book
Human behavior and interactions fascinate me. There is a vitality in the street that is affective and energizing. Street photography is a way to leave myself behind in favor of immersing myself in the activities of others, not as a participant but as an observer. Perhaps the best way to describe how I feel when I’m photographing people on the streets is encapsulated in a comment I heard photographer Joel Meyerowitz say during an interview: “I’m not out there to make another great picture. I’m really out there to feel what it feels like to be alive and conscious in that moment. In a sense, the record of my photographs is a record of moments of consciousness and awareness that have come into my life.” In this book are moments of awareness that have come into my life.
