About the Book
This book took shape at the beginning of our global quarantine. In a life turned outside-in, the Psalms changed for me. I saw poets reaching out from their personal turbulence, assuring themselves and one another of the peace that comes from expression, from art, and from God. I made my form of art in response, and now I want to invite you in.
Ships in Small Bottles is a daisy chain of inspiration beginning with Creator and ending in a new opportunity to create. In Ships in Small Bottles, you'll find:
40 psalms,
each with a view of what the psalmist sees of God,
a poem making art from a line in the Psalm,
and a project for you to engage the Psalm actively.
Some projects require a trip to the craft store. Others you can engage with only your body and breath. However you engage, this book is an invitation to variety. Let the book be your invitation to expression and play.

About the Creator
Carrie Heimer
Fairbanks, Alaska
Carrie Heimer's poetry has appeared in such journals as The Comstock Review, Rock & Sling, Dappled Things, and Windhover. She believes literature can be a training ground for putting faith into action, spurring real compassion in the physical future. The impulse of her poems is to offer the dignity of recognition; she writes to say, "I see you, and you are valuable." Her teaching at West Valley High in Fairbanks, Alaska, does the same work. Her writing is available at poetryissalt.com.
