About the Book
This book is a study detailing the history of the Hungerford family through the ancestral line of my maternal grandmother Constance Jean Hungerford (1913-1989). It begins with a genealogical listing starting from Jean and tracing back through the direct familial male line. The genealogy reads top to bottom, left to right, flowing chronologically backwards along the father-son line.
Following this is a brief history of the Hungerford family and the Barons and Lords of Hungerford, and their seat at Farleigh Hungerford in Somerset. Accompanying this are further details of Farleigh Hungerford castle and photographs of the family's town of origin, Hungerford in Berkshire.
Appendices are also attached containing various maps, a 19th century personal letter and a medieval manuscript, as well as a detailing of the connections of the Hungerfords to the Royal House of Plantagenet for purposes of interest.
