About the Creator
After a 33-year career of teaching in elementary schools in southern Wisconsin, Karen Berg moved to western Upper Michigan and became a learner herself, soaking up the local history of copper mining, logging and immigration. She now knows how to make maple syrup the old-fashioned way, how to drive a skidder hauling logs from the woods, and how to help build a timber-frame cabin in the Porcupine Mountains.
