About the Book
Softcover, 7" x 7", 62 pages
This is the catalogue for a international art exhibit from the artist collective MANIAC (Multi-media Artist Network Idea Exchange and Collaboration) featuring paintings, sculpture, and video work by twenty-three national and international artists.
This exhibition’s uniqueness comes from it being social-media-generated. Over the course of two years, artists from France, Germany, and Australia have been in dialogue with artists from New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Nebraska, and California over shared interests in their work.
In October 2009, MANIAC was born as a benchmark of gleaning information primarily from artists on Facebook looking to connect over common ideas and interests to create a platform for exchange in lieu of a changing global art marketplace. Fifteen international artists responded, launching MANIAC.
MANIAC’S second exhibition of art focuses on “Material / Image” as an impetus for art making. These artists explore the relationship between image, material, and space in a unique way. The work included ranges from site-specific sculptural pieces to formal abstract paintings, and cutting-edge video.
