About the Book
"Anatomy of an Avenue" tells the story of North Avenue in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The photo essay begins on the East Side of the City of Milwaukee, along a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. It ends 16 miles later in the formerly rural, now ex-urban City of Pewaukee.
North Avenue is central to the region's history. It connects more neighborhoods, communities, cities and counties than any other major thoroufghfare in the metropolitan area. It is a microcosm of the Milwaukee community — both what unites and what divides.
