About the Book
Streets of Hope opens the reader's eyes and heart to life inside two townships of South Africa, Soweto and Alexandra. The people struggle in overcrowded housing and land with lacking sanitation, water supply and electricity. They are, however, hopeful and resilient and tenacious. I am deeply grateful to Robin Binckes, Spear of the Nation Tours, for walking me through his beloved Alexandra and Soweto. All profits from this book go to Friends of Alexandra, a non-profit dedicated to nurturing the spark of light in the children (underprivileged and AIDS orphans) of Alexandra. For more information on Friends of Alexandra visit www.friendsofalex.org.za. This book is produced in conjunction with the photography exhibit, Streets of Hope, opening at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in August 2011.
