About the Book
THE SALTON SEA by Clay Lipsky is the photographic survey of a man made utopia gone awry. Born out of a flood in the 20's, the Salton Sea enjoyed a brief period of success as a resort destination in the 50's. Today, it is an ecological disaster that stands at the crossroads of many environmental, industrial and economic issues. Life still exists on the shores of the sea, but it is the beautiful decay of the area that draws me to it.
